New Misery marks the end of an era with his previous musical project, Smith Westerns, and the start of a new age for Cullen Omori, going out on a solo venture.

Exploring new sound territory under the enlightening influences of Roxy Music, Kate Bush, INXS and David Bowie, Omori has created an impressive solo debut that’s plush with dreamy synthesizer, washy guitars, and songs that deal to the pop song, nostalgic of New Wave at times, while also harking back to heyday of British glam rock.

Writing, playing and supervising every part of the album’s creation, Omori also worked with the additional input of Ryan Mattos (additional bass and keyboards), Loren Humphrey (drums) and James Richardson (guitar).
